(Original Caption) 11/7/26-Los Angeles, California: This photo from the private collection of Dr. J.P. Naughton of Los Angeles, shows the Notre Dame team. In 1888, first team of the university, when photo was taken they had no winning games to their credit, as Dr. Naughton remembers them as they are left to right seated: Hal Jewett, Joe Cusick, Art Zahn and Ed Pruden. Standing: First two unknown, "Sis Boom" Hawkins, Lehr, Pat Nelson, Eugene Melady, and George Springer.
