IF I CAN TELL WHAT I'M LOOKING AT - IT IS NOT ABSTRACT!!!
Why is it that some people put work in that is - in no way - abstract. If I can tell what's in the photo, then it is NOT abstract. Please pay attention to what it means.
To help you understand what belongs in this group here is the definition of the word: abstract.
'Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be slight, partial, or complete. Abstraction exists along a continuum. Even art that aims for verisimilitude of the highest degree can be said to be abstract, at least theoretically, since perfect representation is impossible. Artwork which takes liberties, e.g. altering color or form in ways that are conspicuous, can be said to be partially abstract. Total abstraction bears no trace of any reference to anything recognizable. In geometric abstraction, for instance, one is unlikely to find references to naturalistic entities. Figurative art and total abstraction are almost mutually exclusive. But figurative and representational (or realistic) art often contains partial abstraction.' This should help to stop all the inappropriate submissions.
We all have images that we love more than others. They draw our attention, and we never tire of looking at them. We make them our desktop background, or they are our go to pieces when we are asked to show them to others. If and when we have a show, they are the ones we invest in having printed for display. These are the images this group will enjoy. Not only enjoy, but help you promote. Members are encouraged to share work on the social media that they deem impressive. One thing I must let you in on is that IF your photograph looks like a typical 'shot', that's NOT impressive or exciting. Keep that in mind when posting your work.
All formats are welcome. The submissions are limited to one a day in order to help as many as possible with their promotion. Some discretion will have to be used in accepting and featuring work, but my impetus is as many of us as possible benefit. Submissions should be family friendly.
